How to set up Entourage 2008 with Exchange 2007 for 1&1
I ranted here yesterday about 1&1. Needless to say I have got absolutely no feedback since then.
It turns out that they were upgrading my account to Exchange 2007 yesterday. Despite writing to tell me that they had done this in early September. At 10h00 I was told that the 1&1 chaps would call me within the hour with a solution. Still waiting.
Truly terrible customer service.
Anyway, despite there being absolutely no information on the 1&1 website as to how to configure Entourage 2008 I have, i think, worked it out.
Basically you have to change your account settings to match the following:
Under the Authentication Settings tab:
- Account ID: set to your exchange account id. (Eg: e111111111)
- Domain: Exchange
- Password: <your password>
- Exchange Server: https://exchange.1and1.co.uk/exchange/<your account id>@exchange.1and1.co.uk
- tick the box for “DAV Service requires a secure connection (SSL)”
that’s it. Why 1&1 cannot include this on their website, I don’t know. I shall be migrating to an alternative provider as soon as I can.
Hi, I did the above and it worked a treat… However, it suddenly stopped working and I have changed nothing. My iPhone and OWA are both working fine and is connecting to exchange ok.
Anyone have the same problem??
I have tried to delete my account and re-enter all the account info but no luck…
Michael
@Michael:
i got so fed up with 1&1′s service outages (exactly the experience you describe) that I no longer have an account with them and am now with Sherweb.
@Michael
I’ve had the same thing happen – Entourage has just stopped connecting, no changes to the settings at all. So far 1and1 have been less than helpful – their best effort has been to suggest I create a new account with the same settings. No joy with that, obviously.
I still haven’t resolved the Entourage problem! I cannot understand how a company like 1and1 who has got such an awesome product range and an even better control panel can just ignore these issues. Yes they have 24 hours support but it’s appalling!
I’m from the UK. Anyone know if it’s just in the UK it’s so poor or other countries too?
Problem accessing my emails from Entourage on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007
I bought the new Mac Book Pro with Leopard operating system and Entourage 2008 installed. I tried to configure Entourage to be as the default email program to work with Microsoft Exchange 2007 (which is installed under the Windows Server 2003 64-bit platform). Entourage sends and receives emails using IMAP but unable to sync with the address book, Calendar, or viewing the sub files of my inbox on the exchange server. Also sometimes I get the email twice on my Mac Book but once on a windows outlook email client. When I configured it to connect to MS Exchange Server 2007 using the “new account” – Exchange option it didn’t connect to the exchange server (basically I doesn’t bring anything from the exchange server using the exchange setup option when setting up the new account on the macbook)”. Please not that I’ve tried the setup of Entourage 2008 (Mac Workstation and not my MacBookPro) to “another” Exchange 2007 Server 32 bit and it worked!!!
I appreciate any help with this regards as I am new to the MAC world and I like it so far but my business and my personal productivity took a serious negative impact because of the fact that my emails or calendar are not sync.
Much appreciated.
Tareq.
@tarek:
what version of entourage are you using? is it Home & Student? If so, this does not allow Exchange connectivity.
if it is a full version then make sure that you use the manual setup, not the automatic. I have never had any luck with automatic. Also make sure that the certificate is valid on the exchange server. do this by logging into the server via a web browser using the exchange address (NOT the webmail address) and then import the certificate into the keychain from there.
yep, same for me..didn’t change the settings, and no longer connects..!
been like this for months now….perhaps it’s time to give up on 1and1..
Well, I, like the others here have been wrestling with 1&1′s UK MS Exchange 2007 service and their woeful customer service for some time. Finally, after a lot of trial and error I’ve got it to work with Entourage 2008.
Account ID: exxxxxxxxx (your 1&1 account id)
Domain: exchange
Password: yourpassword
Exchange server: profimailer.de/exchange/emailaddress (whatever you’ve set your email alias to, eg 123@abc.com)
Tick the DAV service option
It works for me and is a lot more reliable than using the US servers.
Hi all,
I’ve had exactly the same problem. Seemed to be working fine after i set it up, and then the inbox just didn’t update. Oddly,t he sent items did tho… very strange. I’m in the UK.
Anyway – the solution by Nigel was the one that worked for me.. specifically using the:
Exchange server: profimailer.de/exchange/emailaddress
I was actually using the exchange.1and1.co.uk/exchange one before – but this .de one seems to be the most reliable.
thanks Nigel
Many thanks Andy and Nigel – I had exactly the same issues as everyone else here and using the address for Exchange server: profimailer.de/exchange/emailaddress – worked instantly!
